Terroir

The Disznókő estate covers 150 hectares (370 acres) in a single tract of land, 107 hectares (264 acres) of which are devoted to vineyards. It is mainly planted with four approved local white grape varieties of the Tokaj wine region: Furmint, Hárslevelű, Zéta and Sárgamuskotály.
The vineyard is made of several sites (crus or « dűlő » in Hungarian) located in the south and west hillsides of three small volcanic hills ranging from 200 to 230 meters, with excellent sunshine.
The characteristics (mother rock, the soils, microclimate) are different for each site and every cru will bring a unique character to the wine. The wines of Disznókő are usually a blend of these crus, but we also make single-vineyard wines Dorgó and Kapi with grapes that come exclusively from those plots.

A range of diversified wines

Our aim is to produce wines with a perfect balance between the purity of fruit and the complexity of Botrytis Cinerea, the richness and the freshness. The team constantly tries to understand and express the unique terroir of Disznókő through a range of diversified wines, from dry whites to Eszencia.
